This course will provide you with the opportunity to practice your skills and learn more about working in the Childcare and Education sector from industry professionals and work experience placements. This level 2 course will also give you a license to practise.
Units you will study include:
- Understand how to support children’s development
- Promote play in an Early Years Setting
- Support care routines for babies and young children
- Support well-being of babies and young children for healthy lifestyles
- Health and safety of babies and young children in the early years
The aim of this qualification is to prepare you to work with children between birth and five years, with knowledge of children up to eight years. You will also have classroom sessions to help build your general knowledge and maths and English skills.

- Progression routes available to level 3 and then to higher education

Requirements
You will need to have achieved at least 4 GCSE’s at 3 or above including English and maths.
You do not need to have previous experience or qualifications in working with children to apply for this qualification.

- Direct observation within the workplace
- A portfolio of evidence
- Written assignments or a task
- Team presentations
Progression
You can progress on to Childcare Level 3.
