This course will prepare you with the skills you will need to progress to a Level 1 course in Foundation, a Level 1 vocational course in the wider college or employment.

The structure of this course is built around the needs of the group but you may study topics such as:

  • Drug and alcohol awareness
  • Exploring enterprise ideas
  • Wellbeing
  • Writing a CV
  • Recognising own achievements
  • Developing skills for gaining employment
  • Developing a personal learning programme
  • Managing social relationships
  • Personal finance

You will also have the opportunity to take part in vocational subjects such as art, IT, sport and the Duke of Edinburgh award.

Trips and visits that you may take part in:

  • Local social and leisure activities
  • Local Shops
  • Supermarkets
  • Places of interest

This course takes place three days per week from 9am – 4pm.


There are no specific entry requirements, you just need an enthusiastic and mature approach to education and learning. You will also need excellent attendance and timekeeping throughout the course.


You can progress on to a Level 1 course in Foundation Learning or a Level 1 course in the wider college.
