Hospitality and Catering is an engaging and sociable working environment, with a range of career opportunities. This course is for anyone who wants to improve their skills and knowledge in professional cookery or front of house service in a restaurant and bar. You will get the chance to practise your skills at the East restaurant on our Lowestoft campus and through working at college functions and events.
You will get the chance to complete an industry placement during your studies. Our former students have gained work experience locally and nationally at places including Bushells Bakery, The Commodore, Hatfield Hotel, Paravannis, Roger Hickmans, The Hand and Flowers, Baileys Delicatessen and many more.

- Preparing and Delivering Food

- Dealing with Payments
- Food Storage
Career opportunities include roles such as: chef (professional cookery or production), restaurant management, food and beverage service, bar and barista, conference and banqueting, school and residential home food production service.
You will need to have completed Food and Beverage Service Level 2 or Professional Cookery or Kitchen Services Level 2.
Technical competence is assessed by observation which is tracked and maintained individually by each student. The programme is monitored by internal quality assurance and external verification by City and Guilds.
Former students from the catering department work locally, nationally or even internationally in a range of roles. Some have gone on to gain experience at top restaurants and work for internationally renowned chefs.
