Our Food & Beverage Service Level 2 course is a front of house qualification where you will be working in our popular East restaurant.

You will develop an amazing set of professional skills including:

  • Customer service for fine dining
  • Teamwork and leadership
  • Planning and organising your time and workload
  • Problem solving
  • Attention to detail
  • Understanding and respecting cultural differences
  • Looking after yourself
  • Sustainability in catering
  • How to prepare the restaurant for service
  • How to meet, greet and serve customers using different styles of service
  • Preparing and serving alcoholic and soft drinks, wines and cocktails
  • Barista skills (coffee making)

There will also be an opportunity to start developing your cookery skills ready for your next steps, and we will connect you with local employers for work experience.


This course is suitable for students who have achieved at least three subjects at GCSE at grade 3 or above including English and maths.


Your practical skills are assessed by observation while working in our popular East restaurant. Class-based lessons are designed to give you the knowledge to work successfully in the industry and are tested by short answer questions.

This is a City and Guilds qualification which is externally moderated to maintain currency and equality with others across UK.


You could progress to study Level 2 Kitchen Services or Level 2 Professional Cookery. You could also move into an apprenticeship or employment.
