Hospitality is an engaging, sociable working environment with career opportunities everywhere – hotels, restaurants, nightclubs and bars are a few establishments that make up this exciting industry. Topics covered may include:
- Health and Safety
- Customer service
- Food service
- Handling Payments
- Food Safety
- Restaurant preparation
- Preparing resources
- Serving food
- Preparing and serving hot and alcoholic drinks
Your study will be hands-on in both East restaurant and at functions on the campus. This will provide you with opportunities to cater for lunches and dinners, as well as for special events. There will also be theory sessions to research and support assignments that cover the practical activities for all outcomes and will also sample underpinning knowledge to verify coverage of the unit. You will also undertake work experience as part of the study programme.
Requirements
You will need to have achieved GCSEs at grades 9 to 4.
Assessment
Dishes produced are assessed by observation which is tracked and maintained individually by each student. The programme is monitored by internal quality assurance and external verification is by City and Guilds.
Progression
You can progress on to Professional Cookery Level 3.
Some of our former student have gone on to set up their own businesses, while others have gone on to gain experience at top restaurants and worked for internationally renowned chefs.
