The course is offered as a full-time, one year or two year part-time day-release programme. The part time course is structured to enable students to fit coursework around their work commitments. The modules have been selected in association with local employers in a variety of industries, aiming to satisfy their future needs.

Modules you may study include:

  • Engineering Design
  • Mechanical Principles
  • Electro, Pneumatic and Hydraulic Systems
  • Managing a Professional Engineering Project
  • Electrical and Electronic Principles

During your studies you will benefit from access to Solidworks and Autocad software, hydraulic and pneumatic simulation carried out using Automation Studio, electronic simulation using Multisim, in a 20 seat technical suite. The faculty has a dedicated electronics laboratory, a machine shop and prototyping cnc machine tools. There may be additional costs for projects.

Assessment uses a variety of methods, including reports, assignments and presentations, and where practical these are electronically submitted.

On completion of the course you can progress onto the Higher National Diploma (HND) in General Engineering (Level 5) and the BEng (Hons) Operations Engineering (Level 6)
