The FdA Visual Effects and Post-Production course is designed to provide you with the practical, critical and theoretical tools required by the contemporary visual effects and post production industries. You will develop the problem-solving and reflective abilities necessary for study and subsequent work within the industry. The programme has a focus towards film and television post-production, colour grading, multi-platform editing, and compositing combining 2d/3d animation and visual effects.

Visual effects production is an innovative area of contemporary design; it’s blending of art and technology calls for practitioners who are both technically skilled and aesthetically aware, with a balance of pragmatic decision making and creative flair. The FdA Visual Effects and Post-Production course is designed to equip you with strong observational skills and the ability to apply these skills in the composing of a final moving image sequence.

The course has a strong focus on working within the 3d CGI realm and many of the modules seek to develop this thread within them, whilst retaining the narrative and aesthetic focus of story and visual realism.

Modules you may study include:

  • Screen Writing and Production Planning
  • Editing and Colour Grading
  • Camera Operations
  • Introduction to CGI
  • Professional Portfolio
  • Visual Effects and Motion Design
