We will also encourage you to undertake a work placement alongside your studies to help develop a range of techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for further study or your working life. We have a great relationship with many beauty salons and spa owners in the area and can help connect you with the most appropriate placement for you.
You will also have the opportunity to train at our two on-site hair and beauty salons – Images and Visions – where you will offer services to members of the public under professional supervision.
Why study with us:
- You will develop health and safety, client care and communication skills as part of your qualification
- You will have the opportunity to be part of masterclasses that in the past have covered microdermabrasion, Hopi Ear candles, lash lift, Marvelash and Gellux nail systems
- You can invite your friends and family into the salon to practise your techniques
You will need to have successfully completed Beauty Therapy Level 2.
Your entry level will be assessed based on previous experience, initial aptitude test results and from discussing your goals and aspirations. You will need a reference from your tutor or employer and should take pride in your appearance, enjoy communicating with people, have enthusiasm, dedication and a mature attitude.
Your personal tutor will discuss your progress with you at regular tutorials. Practical assessments will be observed by an assessor and you will be expected to build a professional portfolio of evidence consisting of written assignments and work packs. Most units will require exams to be completed.
You can progress into an apprenticeship or employment working for a company or self-employed. Many of our former students secured employment in local and national salons, cruise ships and some have started their own businesses.
Previous students have gone in various directions; the beauty industry as a career path is very diverse. We have a make-up artist working for the BBC, salon owners, salon chain owners, mobile therapists, cruise ship therapists, lecturers, people working in spas abroad and the list goes on.
