Hospitality and Catering is an engaging and sociable working environment, with a range of career opportunities. This course is for anyone who wants to improve their skills and knowledge in professional cookery or front of house service in a restaurant and bar. You will get the chance to practise your skills at the East restaurant on our Lowestoft campus and through working at college functions and events. There will be theory sessions to research and support assignments that cover the practical activities for all outcomes and will also sample underpinning knowledge to verify coverage of the unit.
You will also undertake a work experience placement as part of the course.
You will need to have achieved at least three subjects at GCSE grades 3 to 1 or above (including English).
Technical competence is assessed by observation which is tracked and maintained individually by each student. The programme is monitored by internal quality assurance and external verification by City and Guilds.
You can progress on to Food and Beverage Service Level 2 or Professional Cookery or Kitchen Services Level 2.
Former students from the catering department work locally, nationally or even internationally in a range of roles. Some have gone on to gain experience at top restaurants and work for internationally renowned chefs.
