You will gain a college certificate which is built around communication skills, building positive social relationships and gaining confidence.
You will typically spend one or two years in Broads developing the skills you will need for the wider Foundation courses. You will have a higher level of support and you will be in a small group but you will be encouraged to be as independent as possible.
You will study topics that include:
- Cooking skills
- Growing plants
- Enterprise project
- Arts project
- Going out
- Keeping safe when out
- Building positive social relationships
- Maths, English and IT skills
Trips and visits that you may take part in:
- Leisure facilities
- Local shops
- Supermarkets
- Food outlets
- Exploring your local community and how to play an active role in it
You will also have the opportunity to take part in an Enterprise Project where you will grow and sell plants.
This course is three days per week and takes place from 9am – 4pm.
Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements, you just need an enthusiastic and mature approach to education and learning. You will also need excellent attendance and timekeeping throughout the course.
Progression
You will be able to progress onto Self and Home or Life and Living.
Some of our students move into community-based provision and we can support with this transition.
