Are you interested in textiles, drawing or photography? This one year UAL course will suit anyone who is passionate about art, design and/or photography. It will suit you if you want to develop new or build on existing art skills and want to progress on to Art and Design Level 3.

This course is relevant for an exciting and challenging job in the creative and digital skills industries. It will also provide you with a broad introduction to subjects within the creative sector including graphic design, printmaking and traditional and digital photography, allowing you to develop and focus your knowledge and understanding.

Develop and explore your creativity. Ideal if you are interested in the practical nature of art and design and want a hands-on course which can help you progress to a higher level. You will take part in classroom sessions to help build your general knowledge of a range of skills and techniques in creative arts and maths and English.

You will explore a broad range of art and design topics including drawing, painting, computer aided design, graphic design, photography and printmaking.

You will be coached and trained by practicing artists and designers. Staff are passionate, dedicated and experienced. We have creative spaces with specialist equipment and facilities including print tables, sewing machines, painting and drawing spaces and easels, computers with Adobe CC software, 3d studio, photo darkrooms and studio and digital printers. You will visit local and national galleries and exhibitions and will be offered an international visit. Students who work hard achieve high grades and progress into employment and onto University.

Requirements

A portfolio of art work and four GCSEs at grade 4 or above ideally including art and English.

Assessment

The course consists of 9 units which are assessed on the work you generate through the year in set projects.

Progression

You can progress on to Art and Design Level 3, into an apprenticeship or employment.
