A CompEx certificate dated within 5 years of the course date.

Candidates will be expected to record their previous experience and qualifications. Candidates must provide copies of qualifications and photo identification (e.g. Driving Licence, Passport, Identity Card or JIB/SJIB/CSCS Card).

Candidates should be appropriately qualified electrotechnical craftspersons, or must be able to provide an employer endorsed letter to substantiate their experience in the relevant discipline.

Candidates must sign a declaration to that effect as part of their registration.

Course Content

Thank you for booking on to the above course.  Please find enclosed your course information pack. It is strongly suggested you read this prior to your course and familiarize yourself with the documents included.

Additional Notes:
Required Information.
Prior to the start date of this course, you will be required to send the following documents in a folder labelled by your name to Michele able via her email address.

  • Copies of qualifications including proof of apprenticeship or NVQ level 3
  • Copy of your current CompEx certificate
  • Completed JTL904R CompEx registration form
  • Completed Eastcoast College registration form
  • Copy of photo i.d (driving licence, passport or JIB card)
  • Employers template letter (if no proof of apprenticeship, NVQ level 3)
Delegates not providing the above information may attend the course but will be issued with a non-electrical certificate if they pass all assessments

During the course, a digital photograph will be taken in order to upload the appropriate information which will be used to upload to JTL CompEx. This information is required to enable the CompEx competency card to be processed and will be held on the CompEx database.

It is strongly recommended that delegates are able to make off steel wire armoured and braided cable glands.

Course Content:
Course will consist of 1.5 days theory followed by 3 practical assessments, an online equipment selection assessment and multi-choice online exam covering all modules on the last day.

Practical Assessments:
Practical assessment will involve the installation of armoured/braided cables for Non Is equipment, you will also be required to carry out inspections on Non-Is equipment and Is equipment
Candidates are expected to gland and terminate steel wire armoured and braided glands; to perform safe isolation procedures.

  • East Coast College operates a zero tolerance drugs and alcohol policy. We will remove any person from the course we suspect of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol
Smoking and Vaping
  • Designated smoking areas are available to delegates wishing to smoke or vape, these are located external to college buildings and must be used at all times
