About Norfolk Community College
We aim to provide support to people aged 25 and above who have been out of work for a long period of time, and who need extra support to find employment. This might include support to learn new skills, to retrain for a new job, or to become self-employed.
The College can also provide you with access to specialist support to help overcome barriers to employment – covering areas such as housing problems, debt and mental health.
Whatever your situation, the Community College will do all that it can to help you achieve your goals at a pace that is right for you, and near to where you live.
What we offer
Every person who accesses the Community College is offered one-to-one advice and support from a Skills Connector. They are there to help you identify your strengths and interests, and to consider the steps you can take to improve your job prospects.
For people who need more guided and longer-term support, our Employment Development Workers are on hand to offer mentoring and assistance to overcome barriers.
It is difficult to stay focused on training and job searching when urgent and crisis situations arise. That is why the Community College provides quick access to multi-disciplinary workers who are specialists in housing, debt and benefits. Our workers also have good links to other services, saving you the time and worry of seeking out the right service.
Whatever your training needs, our Training Coordinator will do all they can to put on the right course for you. And if they can’t, they will find someone who can. As you re-train and gain new skills, our Employer Broker will be building relationships with employers to offer you a volunteer or work placement opportunity. They will also help to match you to a business mentor if you want to find out more about starting up and running your own business social enterprise.
Where are we?
In short, we want to be wherever you are. So whether you live in a town or village, we will do our very best to offer our support at a location that is near to you.
What if I live outside of Norfolk or I am under 25 years old?
If you are younger than 25, please visit our Contact page for details on other services. Here, you will also find information for employment services in Suffolk.
