This course is for candidates who work or want to work as a Plumber in the construction sector. It allows you to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in Plumbing.

This course covers a range of units including:

  • Structure of the construction industry
  • Fundamental safe working practices
  • Environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings
  • Site preparation for working in the construction industry
  • Above ground drainage
  • Copper pipework
  • Plastic pressure pipework
  • Low carbon steel pipework Installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing systems
  • Plumbing science

All programmes include visits, guest speakers, training opportunities and work experience as standard. We take part in various competitions to showcase the skills and determination of our students.


There are no formal entry requirements for this course but you should be committed to the course and interested in working in the construction industry. You will need to attend an interview before being accepted on to this course.


You will be assessed in a number of ways including multiple choice question papers, online exams and practical assignments.


Successful completion of this course may lead to employment or you may be able to continue with your training by becoming an apprentice or joining the Level 2 Plumbing course. Former students from the construction department have gone on to work within the industry or have even set up their own businesses. Many are now helping to train the workforce of the future as they have also taken on apprentices of their own.
