23/04/2021

Stuart Rimmer, Chief Executive and Principal of East Coast College, has been shortlisted for FE Leader of the Year at the 2021 Tes FE Awards.

The awards recognise the most outstanding individuals and institutions that the further education sector has to offer, with the winners due to be announced at a virtual ceremony on 28th May.

Stuart, who became the first Chief Executive and Principal of East Coast College in 2017 having joined Great Yarmouth College four years prior, is one of eight leaders from across the country shortlisted for the accolade and the only one from East Anglia. The FE Leader of the Year award recognises “exceptional leadership” in further education.

Speaking following the announcement on 23rd April, Stuart said: “It’s a huge honour to be nominated, especially against such highly regarded other sector leaders. It’s genuinely humbling and lovely to be recognised for the work over the last difficult twelve months. My view is that leadership is always much easier when it’s as part of a great team, such as we have at East Coast College. I am very grateful for the work we collectively achieve.”

Tes head of FE, Julia Belgutay, said: “Further education providers have excelled in what has been a truly challenging year, and the amazing individuals, teams and institutions on our Tes FE Awards shortlist showcase that. Our judges were highly impressed with the calibre of entries and I want to congratulate everyone who has made the shortlist – it is a brilliant achievement.”

East Coast College, which was last year graded Good by Ofsted, has campuses in Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth providing courses for school leavers, adults, apprenticeships, higher education, maritime, commercial and more. To see the full shortlist, visit https://tesfeawards.co.uk/tesfeawards2021
