Director of Commercial Development
Ian graduated from Leicester University in 1997 with a BA (Hons) in Human Geography and gained employment at the gas network company Transco (National Grid) in Leicester. In 1998, Ian returned to his home town of Lowestoft where he started work at Lowestoft College, now East Coast College, in the role of Apprentice Training Officer for vocational areas including Engineering and Maritime. In 2001, Ian moved to the Economic Development Unit at Great Yarmouth Borough Council working closely with employers in the oil and gas, electronics and marine logistics sectors. In 2005 an opportunity arose to return to Lowestoft College to head up two of the College’s four Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs) in Offshore Technology and Skills for Energy. Following on from the success of the CoVE programme in 2009 Ian was appointed to the position of Head of Maritime, Offshore & Energy Studies which comprised of the College’s full cost commercial business serving a national and international client base.
In late 2015, Ian took up a directorship opportunity at Lowestoft & Waveney Education Services Ltd, a subsidiary of Lowestoft College, now East Coast College, and within this is now responsible for the commercial income and Apprenticeships contracts at the College.
