Level one Health & Social Care students from the Lowestoft Campus have been busy visiting the community and putting their skills into practice this week.
They spent one afternoon at a local care home entertaining the residents with memory games, chess, singing, piano playing and general chit chat. The project was set up to give the students first-hand experience of providing activities to care service users in a working environment.
The students really excelled themselves and some residents said it was their best day ever! As the project was such a success the students have been asked, and have agreed, to go back on a regular basis.
During the same week they also spent the day at Saxon House Extra Care in Loddon, Norfolk. The students spent time getting to know the residents, undertaking activities with them and speaking with staff about their roles as Care Workers.
A great time was had by all and the care staff commented on how great the atmosphere was and the interaction between residents and students.
