You will have the opportunity to practice your skills and learn more about working in the Childcare and Education sector from industry professionals and professional work placements.

Level 1 – This qualification gives you an introduction to Level 1 Award, Certificate and Diploma in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Settings. It can help you decide which area you would like to work in. It will help you develop some basic skills and knowledge required for working in these sectors. You will also have classroom sessions to help build your general knowledge and maths and English skills.

Level 2 – The aim of this qualification is to prepare learners to work with children between birth and five years, with knowledge of children up to eight years. You will also have classroom sessions to help build your general knowledge and maths and English skills.

Level 3 – This course will qualify the students to work in the early years sector with children 0-5. It will also give them access to HE courses at university for further study if they want to become a teacher, children’s nurse or midwife etc.

Nursery Worker, Nursery or Primary School Teacher, Teaching Assistant in Foundation Stage and Year 1, Nanny, Nurse, Childminder, Play Worker or Play Therapist, Youth Worker, Educational Welfare Officer, Special Educational Needs Officer, Social Worker, Midwife, Child Psychologist, Child Welfare Officer

What can I go on to do?

  • Enter employment
  • Progress to a degree programme or other higher education programme

If you are aged 16-19 and have not achieved GCSE grade A*-C in English and maths, any programme you choose will require you to continue studying English and maths.
