Students at East Coast College are celebrating a milestone achievement today as GCSE results in English and Maths are released across their Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft campuses. The results reflect the hard work and determination of hundreds of students across both campuses, with many achieving the grades needed to progress confidently into further education, apprenticeships or their chosen careers.
Sophie Sutton achieved a grade 8 in her English GCSE as well as a 5 in Maths and 4 in Science. Sophie has secured her place at Lowestoft Sixth Form College and will go on to study History, Philosophy and English Literature. Sophie said: “I’m over the moon, I’m shocked I managed to do so well and am really happy with my results and where they will take me.”

Stephanie Watson studied GCSE Maths at the college’s Great Yarmouth campus, achieving a grade 7, which allows her to progress onto the Access to Humanities and Social Science course at East Coast College. Stephanie said: “I am really happy and surprised with my results! They are helping me to progress onto an Access to Higher Education course and continue my educational journey.”

Joshua Oldham also studied GCSE Maths at the Great Yarmouth Campus, achieving a grade 4, which has facilitated his move to Birmingham, where he will undertake a Pipe Welding Apprenticeship. Joshua said: “I am shocked at my results but very happy.”

Paul Padda, Principal and Chief Executive Officer at East Coast College, said: “Congratulations to all of our students who have passed their GCSE exams. These achievements mark a significant milestone and open doors to exciting new opportunities, whether that’s progressing onto further college courses, applying to university or securing their dream job. We are proud to play a part in supporting our students as they take the next step in their journey.
“We would also like to congratulate all of the school leavers across Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth who have received their results today. For those still considering their next steps, our dedicated teams are on hand to offer guidance and support. Whether you’re thinking about A Levels, a further education course, or gaining hands-on experience through an apprenticeship, we’re here to help you navigate your options.”
