We’ve extended our range of creative workshops available over the summer at The Place. All courses are on a first-come, first-served basis. Places are limited, don’t miss out!
Sashiko – 3rd and 4th August – 10am to 1pm (Must attend both days)
Discover the beautiful art of sashiko, a traditional Japanese stitching technique known for its simple, repeating patterns and calming, mindful process. In this two-day workshop, you’ll learn the core stitches and designs on day one, then put your new skills into practice on day two by creating your own finished piece to take home.
Shibori – 11th and 12th August – 10am to 1pm (Must attend both days)
Explore the creative possibilities of shibori, a traditional Japanese resist-dyeing technique that uses folding, binding, and stitching to create stunning patterned textiles. Over two days, you’ll learn a range of shibori methods on day one, then apply your skills on day two to design and make your own unique dyed piece.
Batik – 24th and 25th August – 10am to 1pm (Must attend both days)
Discover the art of batik, a traditional resist-dyeing technique that uses wax and dye to create rich, layered patterns on fabric. In this two-day workshop, you’ll learn the essential methods of applying wax and colour on day one, then bring your ideas to life on day two by creating your own unique batik piece.
