East Coast College Celebrates Outstanding Apprentices at Annual Apprenticeship Awards

16/02/2026

East Coast College proudly celebrated the exceptional achievements of its apprentices and employer partners at its annual Apprenticeship Awards ceremony, held as a highlight of National Apprenticeship Week 2026. The event marked a fitting finale to a week dedicated to recognising the value, impact, and future of apprenticeships across the UK.

The ceremony shone a spotlight on the talent, dedication, and ambition of apprentices who are helping to drive skills development and economic growth across the region. Ten apprentices were presented with Apprentice of the Year awards, recognising outstanding performance across a range of sectors, including Engineering, Welding, Education, Business and Hospitality.

Each award celebrated individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to their training, significant professional growth, and a strong contribution to their workplace throughout their apprenticeship programme.

Awards were presented by representatives from Apprenticeships Norfolk, Norfolk County Council, Great Yarmouth Borough Council, East of England Energy Group, CITB, Ben and ECITB.

The evening’s keynote address was delivered by Kevin Keable, Chair of East of England Energy Group, who shared his inspiring journey from apprentice to business owner, highlighting the transformative power of apprenticeships in shaping careers and strengthening industry.

Alongside apprentice success, the College also recognised the vital role employers play in developing the workforce of tomorrow. The Apprentice Employer of the Year award was presented to PNG Electrical, in recognition of their outstanding support for apprentices, students, and their ongoing partnership with East Coast College. The award acknowledged the company’s commitment to high-quality training, mentoring, and skills development within the local community.

Tom Roberts, Assistant Principal – Curriculum & Quality, said: “PNG Electrical have consistently demonstrated an exceptional level of support for our apprentices and students. They are a proactive employer committed to investing in future talent, sponsoring the East Coast College Electrical department and serving as the driving force behind the inaugural Spark Games hosted in June 2025. PNG are a pleasure to work alongside and are a credit to the industry they represent.”

East Coast College continues to work closely with local employers to deliver high-quality apprenticeships that support the region and create meaningful opportunities for future talent.
