Have you considered a career in the uniformed public services, helping others and making a difference in a wide range of roles, either in the UK or overseas?

There are hundreds of different careers within the uniformed public services, including roles in the military, emergency services, prison services and much more.

You will gain an insight into the knowledge, skills, qualities and physical requirements needed to join a public service, where it can be physically, mentally and emotionally tough, but worth the challenge.

You will develop your academic skills alongside resilience, communication, teamwork, and industry-specific skills such as map reading and navigation.

Our team of experienced teachers have backgrounds in a wide range of uniformed public services and will help you to understand and prepare for your chosen career in this industry.

You will also develop a range of personal skills needed for the Public Service Sector, which are essential for enhancing your performance and employability opportunities.

You will have the opportunity to attend ‘Look at Life’ courses with the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, and Royal Regiment. We also attend Suffolk Fire and Rescue career training and advice days and have links with the Royal Air Force and Royal Marines outreach teams.

Requirements

You will need to have achieved at least four GCSEs at grade 4 or above (including English Language) or Uniformed Public Services Level 2.

Assessment

You will be assessed throughout the course via:

  • Practical demonstrations
  • Oral questioning
  • Assignment/project work
  • Online assessments

Progression

You can progress onto the Level 4 HNC in Public Services (Civil Protection) with the University of Suffolk at East Coast College or other universities.

You can also progress into an apprenticeship or employment in careers such as a police officer, fire fighter, probation officer, military operational roles or the armed forces.
