Full-time

This course will be suitable for you if you would prefer to work in a small, quiet group. The course will give you a grounding in English, maths and independent living skills.

You will do units in English and maths and have the chance to do some supported work experience either internally at the college or as a group at a separate location. You can make choices about areas in which you would like to improve and you can learn simple cookery techniques and housework skills in a realistic flat called ‘Home View’. You will learn about food shopping and healthy eating as well as getting out and about in the community to enjoy leisure activities and to use public transport. Current learners enjoy their weekly visits to the Sportspark at the University of East Anglia and they have taken part in activities that increase their commercial awareness.

You could learn to be a course representative or student ambassador and you could sample vocational areas by linking in if this is something you would like to do.

Progression

This course could lead to higher level study either in Foundation Skills or within the wider college. Alternatively, it will simply teach you more about being independent.
