Discover the art and craft of digital photography with our Level 2 Digital Photography course. Designed for learners who want to develop their technical skills and creative eye, this course offers hands‑on experience using digital cameras, editing software, and a range of photographic techniques.

Throughout the course, students will:

  • Learn how to use digital cameras confidently, including understanding exposure, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and white balance.
  • Explore composition techniques that enhance visual impact, such as rule of thirds, leading lines, framing, and symmetry.
  • Experiment with different photographic genres, including portrait, landscape, still life, documentary, and creative photography.
  • Develop digital editing and post‑processing skills using industry‑standard software to enhance and refine images.
  • Build an understanding of photographic workflow, from planning a shoot to organising files and presenting final images.
  • Gain insight into visual storytelling, enabling them to communicate ideas effectively through imagery.
  • Create a professional portfolio of work that showcases technical skill, creativity, and personal style.

Ideal for beginners or those looking to strengthen their practical skills, the Level 2 Digital Photography course provides the knowledge and confidence needed for further study or creative practice. All you need is enthusiasm and an interest in developing your photographic abilities.

We provide the camera equipment but if you do have your own, feel free to bring it along.

*Free if under £25,000 a year or in receipt of UC/pension (3 x pay slips or evidence of 3 months of UC is required). If you are not eligible, the course fee is £330.

Requirements

At least Level 1 in English would be beneficial.

A basic understanding of computer software e.g Microsoft Word, OneDrive
