This courses are perfect for anyone who is interested in a career in TV and film make-up or wanting to progress in the industry and gain a higher accreditation and skill set.

You will cover many areas of make-up and character creation, including art techniques such as airbrushing, prosthetics, hair colouring and styling, bald caps, ageing, dry hairstyling, body paint techniques and much more. You will use vegan friendly products and support sustainability through the upcycling of costumes and wigs.

You will need to be creative, a great communicator, a team player, reliable and have an interest in current and historical fashions of hair and make-up.

It is important that you have a mature and professional attitude, as the hair and make-up profession is a highly demanding and disciplined one. In particular, you will be required to maintain high standards of professionalism.

Requirements

Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of Beauty Therapy Level 2 and/or a successful skill test interview.

You will also need to have achieved at least a grade 4 in English, maths and science. GCSE Art would be an advantage or a keen interest in creative applications.

Assessment

There is continuous assessment of each unit. You present evidence of competence via practical assessments and production of a personal portfolio of evidence.

Progression

You can progress to study the Level 3 Media Makeup

You will find that there is no defined progression route. The freelance nature of the profession means that you may move between trainee make-up assistant, make-up artist, chief/key make-up artist and designer roles, depending on your experience and confidence within the sector.
