All individuals who assess the occupational competence of others in a work environment, or vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in related situations, (i.e. workshop, classroom or other training environment), are expected to gain qualifications as assessors in order to reach the national occupational standard. This certificate replaces the A1 qualification.
This course will enable you to gain credibility with awarding bodies, employers, colleagues, employees. It will improve your understanding of competency based assessment and you will develop your interpersonal skills; in particular listening skills, constructive feedback, observation and questioning techniques. This course will also raise your awareness of equality and diversity issues. Recommended reading:

Requirements

You will need to be in a position to assess candidates in a work place or training situation.

Assessment

You will provide evidence by practically assessing candidates’ skills, knowledge and understanding, using a variety of methods in the workplace, in a training centre or at college. You will create a portfolio of evidence.

Progression

This qualification provides progression opportunities directly into employment as an assessor of occupational competence in the workplace and vocationally related achievement in non-work environments. The City and Guides Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (QCF) also provides progression opportunities towards Level 4 studies for assessors looking to pursue a career in internal verification including: City and Guilds Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice and Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (QCF).
