This hands‑on qualification is ideal for learners looking to start a career in the floristry industry, develop strong practical design skills, and gain insight into how modern floristry businesses operate.

Throughout the course, students will:

  • Learn about a wide range of flowers and plants, including how to care for and maintain them to professional standards.
  • Understand the tools, materials, and environmental conditions needed to create high‑quality floral work.
  • Explore essential floristry design principles and develop the technical skills required to create a variety of floral products, from bouquets to arrangements for events.
  • Develop customer service and communication skills, enabling them to respond effectively to client needs in a commercial setting.
  • Gain insight into how floristry businesses operate, including workflow, presentation, and the finishing touches that elevate professional floral design.
  • Complete 150 hours of industry work experience, building real‑world confidence and employability in a competitive field.
  • Build a digital or physical portfolio, documenting their practical work and design development.

Assessment includes a written examination, a synoptic practical assessment, and a Health & Safety exam for land‑based industries.

This course is ideal for anyone with creativity, enthusiasm, and an interest in developing practical floristry skills. It offers a clear progression pathway into Level 3 study or directly into employment across roles such as florist, floral designer, event florist, or garden centre assistant.

*Free if under £25,000 a year or in receipt of UC/pension (3 x pay slips or evidence of 3 months of UC is required). If you are not eligible, the course fee is £1080.

Requirements

At least Level 1 in English – preferably Grade 3 or above at GCSE

A basic understanding of computer software e.g Microsoft Word, OneDrive is necessary

Work experience for this course is mandatory – you must be able to facilitate your travel to a placement.
