This qualification is designed for individuals who use or wish to use helping skills in work or personal contexts. This qualification introduces learners to the principles and practices of helping relationships.
Units included in this qualification:
- Developing self-awareness for the helping relationship
- Developing listening and communication skills for the helping relationship
- Managing the helping relationship
You will develop self-awareness, develop communication skills, and understand how to manage helping relationships effectively. The course is suitable for those in health and social care, education, voluntary work, and other support roles.
If you fall under the below categories, you are able to be fully funded for the course:
- Low income – Earning under £25,750 annually before tax. (£2,083.30 monthly / £495.19 weekly)
- UC – On universal credit and taking home £952 (single) or £1534 (joint)
- Unemployed and seeking employment.
- Receiving ESA/JSA
Requirements
There are no specific learning requirements. You will require appropriate level of literacy and willingness to complete the assessment criteria.
Assessment
This is a knowledge-only qualification assessed through a portfolio of evidence, covering 3 units of work that is to be completed in your own time and requires some further reading.
Progression
You may progress to qualifications in mentoring, counselling skills, healthcare, or supporting teaching and learning in schools.
