Lowestoft Campus

Full-time
The Game Design course is designed for students who want to shape the look, feel, and creative direction of games. This programme blends artistic skill with core game design thinking, helping learners understand how visuals support gameplay, storytelling, and player experience.
Students explore how characters, environments, and assets are designed with purpose — not just to look appealing, but to communicate ideas, guide players, and enhance the overall game world. Through practical projects, learners develop the ability to design visually coherent game concepts, create assets that serve gameplay needs, and think like designers as well as artists.
As learners move into the second year of Level 3, the course becomes increasingly focused on personal progression and individual creative identity. This stage is designed to help students refine their skills, explore their interests in greater depth, and begin shaping a clear pathway toward their next steps — whether that is higher education, an apprenticeship, or direct entry into the creative industries.
During Year 2, students are encouraged to specialise in an area of creative practice that aligns with their long‑term goals. This specialisation is supported through project briefs, workshops, and independent study that allow learners to experiment, develop technical confidence, and build a portfolio that reflects their chosen direction.
By the end of the course, students will have built a portfolio that demonstrates both creative flair and thoughtful design decisions. This programme is ideal for anyone who wants to contribute to the creative vision of a game and begin their journey into the UK’s thriving games industry.
