This course is due to be delivered at The Place University Centre opening in Great Yarmouth town centre in October 2024.

Develop your creative and practical abilities in fashion and textiles under professional expertise in our well-equipped studio spaces.

You will be encouraged to experiment and explore ideas, as well as develop finished products from sketchbooks to final outcomes. You will explore various areas of fashion and textiles including pattern construction, garment manufacture, printed, knitted, woven and embroidered textiles. You will also have the opportunity to specialise and develop further practical skills to a personal conclusion, presenting your work in exhibitions and/or on the catwalk.

Modules may include:

  • Design Exploration and Fashion
  • Drawing Techniques and Approaches
  •  Experimental Printed Textiles
  • Pattern Construction
  • Garment Manufacture

You will benefit from regular visits to museums, galleries and fashion trade events, which in the past have included Premier Vision in Paris and Printsource in New York, as well as visits to other European cities. Research can be undertaken using the excellent library with subscriptions to trade publications, online facilities and the networked learning environment.

You will be set live projects by specialists and complete work placements, as well as being given the opportunity to enter design competitions. Graduates will have the skills to set up their own business, work freelance or gain employment through their work experience.
