This qualification is designed for individuals working in the healthcare sector who support those with life-limiting illnesses. This qualification provides you with a comprehensive understanding of end-of-life care, including the emotional, spiritual, and practical aspects of supporting individuals and their families.
Units included in this qualification:
- Understanding end-of-life care
- Communication during end-of-life care
- Assessment and care planning in end-of-life care
- Person-centred approaches to end-of-life care
- Care during the final hours of life and bereavement care
These units equip you with the knowledge to provide compassionate and effective care during one of the most critical phases of life. Exploring current approaches to palliative care, communication strategies, holistic assessment and planning, and the psychological and emotional needs of individuals nearing the end of life. The qualification also addresses the needs of families and caregivers, helping learners understand grief, bereavement, and how to provide support during and after death.
If you fall under the below categories, you are able to be fully funded for the course:
- Low income – Earning under £25,750 annually before tax. (£2,083.30 monthly / £495.19 weekly)
- UC – On universal credit and taking home £952 (single) or £1534 (joint)
- Unemployed and seeking employment.
- Receiving ESA/JSA
Requirements
To get the most from this course, Level 2 literacy is recommended. If you’d like to build your literacy skills first, there are development options available. You should be ready to work independently and complete assignments outside of class time.
Assessment
This is a knowledge-only qualification assessed through a portfolio of evidence, covering 5 units of work that is to be completed in your own time and requires some further reading.
Progression
Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care, or higher education in health and social care fields.
