The course has been designed to support the advanced apprenticeship programme required across the engineering sector and university. Learners can choose from two pathways in year two – Operations Maintenance or Electrical Electronics.
In year one you will achieve a Subsidiary Diploma in Engineering Technical Support. In year two you will complete the Extended Diploma in Engineering Technologies.
This programme contains a variety of modules that include:
- Health and Safety in the Engineering Workplace
- Communications for Engineering Technicians
- Engineering Project
- Mathematics for Engineering Technicians
- Mechanical Principles and Applications
- Electrical and Electronic Principles
- Engineering Maintenance Procedures and Techniques
- Properties and Applications of Engineering Materials
- Engineering Maintenance
- Fluid Power
Opportunities for work experience are available throughout the year and these will be advertised to all engineering students. A range of guest speakers and site visits will be planned throughout the academic year.
Four GCSEs Grade C or above plus GCSE maths at grade B to cope with the demands of the course.
You will be assessed via a range of methods to include assignments, presentations and online exams. The course will run on a module basis.
The qualification will allow you to enter a wide range of technical engineering roles within the local or national engineering sector. Learners have progressed into a wide range of vocational areas via apprenticeships or continued to study on Higher Education programmes through the University of Suffolk or other engineering universities.
