This qualification aims to provide you with the knowledge and skills to provide sports massage therapy to a range of clients who have dysfunctional tissue, without acute/post-acute injuries or underlying pathological conditions. You will complete five modules as part of this qualification, including:

  • Anatomy and physiology for sports massage
  • Principles of health and fitness
  • Understand the principles of soft tissue dysfunction
  • Professional practice in sports massage
  • Sports massage treatments

You will be taught by industry professionals using our own health and fitness facilities, with access to a course manual and the practical resources required to support your studies.

Throughout the course you will complete 150 hours of lessons, covering a range of theoretical and practical topics. You will gain lots of hands-on experience in sports massage techniques, giving you the confidence and skills to pursue a career in sports massage therapy.

The cost of this course is £2225, with loan options available. More information about the loan options available can be supplied on request or will be available on application.

The course is due to start in November 2021, and will be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5.30pm till 8.30pm.

The full course dates are: 3rd and 4th November, 10th and 11th November, 17th and 18th November, 24th and 25th November, 1st and 2nd December, 8th and 9th December, 15th and 16th December, 5th and 6th January, 12th and 13th January, 19th and 20th January, 26th and 27th January, 2nd and 3rd February, 9th and 10th February, 23rd and 24th February, 2nd and 3rd March, 9th and 10th March, 16th and 17th March, 23rd and 24th March, 30th and 31st March, 6th and 7th April, 26th and 27th April, 4th and 5th May, 11th and 12th May, 18th and 19th May, 25th and 26th May.


There are no specific qualifications or grades required for entry to the qualification. There is an element of communication involved (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) and you should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 3.

Performing sports massage is a physical activity and you will need to be fit enough to carry this out.


The qualification includes a range of different assessments, including one written exam, worksheets, practical assessments, observations, and discussions.


This qualification provides progression on to Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy, or routes into fitness instructing.
