1 Year

This full time course runs at our Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft campuses. You will learn in the classroom with your tutors and during Flipped Learning sessions. Flipped learning will support you to develop your independence as a student, and will help you to take the next step in your learning. A good attitude to learning and a desire to do well will support your progression onto Level 2 or an Apprenticeship.

You will also complete a short work placement later in the year which will help you to gain confidence and invaluable work experience in the sector of your choice.

You will also be involved in Social Action Projects to support our local community. These projects have been very successful and have helped students to develop their employability skills, confidence and self-esteem.

During the year you can expect to go on trips and take part in workshops hosted by guest speakers from both Childcare and Health and Social Care backgrounds. This is very exciting as this allows students to explore both sectors further and to discover new job opportunities that perhaps you may not have considered before.

The units have been carefully designed to support the needs of students and act as a solid foundation for level 2. Subjects include Role of the Practitioner, Communication, Safeguarding, Partnership Working and many more. English and Mathematics are not just taught through standalone lessons, skills are constantly developed throughout the entire teaching and at any given opportunity.

This course is unique and students who choose to study on this programme want to stay and retention is excellent. Students aspire to work towards achieving their Diploma and the support offered by the tutors throughout the year is outstanding. The students’ holistic needs are at the centre of everything we do and personal development is cultivated in a stimulating learning environment so students can grow as individuals and progress in their studies. Our students undoubtedly leave this course feeling prepared for their next step in their learning journey.

Entry requirements for this course are GCSE 2 grades including maths and English.

This course would be suitable for students who have a desire to work in the care industry and wish to explore careers in either Childcare or Health and Social Care. Students may not have achieved the grades they had hoped for at school but this does not mean they cannot achieve their aspirations at college. Alongside the vocational teaching, there is a strong emphasis on the development of English and mathematical skills, as well as the essential soft skills in preparation for progression onto the next level at college and entering the workforce.

Level 2 CACHE Certificate in An Introduction to Early Years Education and Care.

This qualification supports students to be better prepared for future training and employability.
