Certificate/Diploma in Skills towards Enabling Progression
Great Yarmouth Campus
This course provides Entry Level 3 and Level 1 provision designed to provide students aged 16 to 18 with a more gradual, supported route towards vocational accreditation and/or employment. The course provides full time provision, with a motivating programme. We aim to help you prepare for the world of work, exploring realistic opportunities for progression on to further learning programmes. This is an ideal transition in to further education for young people who sometimes need a little more time to increase their confidence and build upon skills, qualifications and personal qualities gained in their previous place of learning.
The course structure includes maths and English (embedded into all subjects as well as standalone qualifications), 1-1 tutorial time, personal budgeting, developing skills for independent life, skills for gaining employment, health and safety at work, teamwork, personal study skills, managing your health at work, solving work related problems, understanding diversity in society and what it means to be British.
Students will be expected to access work experience and vocational taster sessions where available as part of their programme.
There are no specific entry requirements, you just need an enthusiastic and mature approach to education and learning. You will also need excellent attendance and timekeeping throughout the course.
Work that meets the criteria is tracked and maintained individually in the form of a portfolio. The programme is monitored by internal verifiers and external verification by Gateway and City and Guilds.
Within your programme of study you will develop a range of techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for performance in further study or your working life. The development of social skills is a key focus of the programme.
Progress from Entry Level 3 to the wider college study programmes, progress towards employment.
