If you are passionate about art, design and/or photography including drawing, graphics and textiles or you want to be an artist, photographer or fashion designer – it all starts here.

This course will set you up for an exciting and challenging career in the creative skills industries. It will provide you with a broad introduction to the creative subjects also including printmaking, painting, 3D, illustration, ceramics and animation.

Creative work is based in sketchbooks and presented in your individual portfolio, enabling you to progress to the next level or stage including university and employment.

You will have the opportunity to take part in live projects set by employers and visit local and national exhibitions. Your work will also be showcased at our end of year exhibition and celebration.

Requirements

A portfolio of art work and a commitment to work towards gaining functional skills and/or GCSEs in maths and English.

This would suit anyone with a keen interest in Art and design or photography. No previous experience or qualifications needed but a keen interest in art is essential.

Assessment

Work is project based and presented in sketchbooks and a portfolio which is showcased in an end-of-year exhibition. You will be assessed and supported throughout the course with regular reviews, formative and final assessment in each of the course subjects and projects.

Progression

Art, Design and Photography can lead you to study a degree such as Professional Photographic Practice or Fashion and Textiles with the University of Suffolk at East Coast College or other universities.

You can progress to Art and Design Level 2 or an apprenticeship.
