We provide a pathway that combines academic study with practical opportunities, including work placements tailored to your career aspirations. These experiences will help you build the knowledge and skills needed to progress into further education, an apprenticeship, or roles within related fields.
You will study a range of engaging modules such as:
- The fundamentals of psychology
- An introduction to the legal system
- Principles of criminology
You will also develop essential skills in critical thinking, problem-solving and effective communication.
As you progress through the course, you will explore more specialised topics like forensic psychology, criminal law, theories of crime and deviance and the societal impact of crime.

Requirements
For Care and Criminology Level 1, you will need GCSEs at grade 1 or 2 and a successful interview.
For Level 2 study, you will need to have achieved GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and Maths.
For Level 3 study, you will need to have achieved GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Maths.
Progression
After completing this course, you can progress to university to study degrees such as criminal justice, psychology, forensics, philosophy, counselling, law, sociology, policing and many more.
Career opportunities include forensic psychologist, barrister, probation officer, solicitor, police officer, paralegal, crime scene officer, mediator and rehabilitation counsellor.
