After passing the course with distinction, Lisa decided that she wanted to stay local so took up the offer of a place on the FdA Commercial Art and Design Practice course at University of Suffolk at Great Yarmouth Campus. She chose this course because she liked the facilities and tutors at the college and wanted to keep living costs down by staying at home and keeping her part time job. Lisa progressed on to the ‘top up’ year for BA (Hons) Arts Practice and graduated with a first class honours degree. She said “I was worried about writing the dissertation as I prefer creative portfolio work to writing but I got great support from my tutor and was absolutely overwhelmed when I found out that I got a first for my dissertation!” At her graduation in 2014, Lisa was awarded ‘overall student of the year’.
On completion of her degree, Lisa applied for many graphic design and marketing jobs and received two job offers. She had heard about a vacancy in the marketing team here at Great Yarmouth Campus so she applied for it. The job was offered to her following a successful interview, just weeks after her finishing her degree.
Two years on and Lisa is still in her creative marketing role at ECC, designing all of their marketing materials for print and web (including these posters!), managing the website and social media plus a whole range of other marketing activities. “I never really left the college but I have progressed from school leaver to marketing professional here.”
