Access to Science and Health

The course offers a solid foundation in the major scientific areas to enable you to progress to university. You will need to be highly motivated and committed to the course and will be in college for 14 hours a week. The College has excellent literacy and numeracy courses which can help get you to an appropriate level to enter this Access course.

  • Introduction to Physical Science 
  • HE study skills

Three subjects at GCSE grade C or above (including English). Your application will be assessed on your individual achievements and experience. You will need to be working at Level 2 English and maths, as GCSE C grades are required for university.


Assessment includes coursework assignments (structured questions, reports, essays, poster, presentation etc) and exams.


Employment opportunities can include research scientist, laboratory technician, teacher, nurse, ODP, paramedic, radiographer, Environment Agency work, biomedical scientist, to name but a few.
