Access to Art, Design and Photography

This intensive, broad based course aims to build on your existing experience and abilities and to prepare you for the demands of study at university or in some other form of training or employment within the art and design sector. It is a practical based course which gives you wonderful opportunities for experimenting with a wide range of materials and techniques before opting for a specialism, developing your individuality, initiative and confidence.

Requirements

A sufficient standard of numeracy and English Language is needed to cope with the demands of the course. We strongly advise you to have a GCSE in English Language and maths at grade C or above as the majority of university providers will require this. All students will undertake diagnostic assessments  for these skills during the course interview or induction process and you will be required to demonstrate that you can work at level 2 in these subject areas. Students may be able to study for one GCSE in either English Language or maths alongside the Access course. This will be discussed during the Access interview process.

Assessment

Work is project and vocationally based and is presented in sketchbooks, practical outcomes and a portfolio. Your final work is showcased in an end of year exhibition.

Progression

A degree or other higher education programme in a wide range of arts based subjects.
